Executive Director's Report
- Judge Fa’amomoi Masanai was appointed to the bench in Washington State. We are trying to determine if he is the first Pacific Islander. We have had three Judges from the Chamorro community in California, retired Judge Ronald Quidachay, Judge Jacqueline Arroyo, and Johnny Cepeda Gogo who was on the NPIEN Northern California Chapter Board.
- New Members and Sponsors: Ray Vincent, former NPIEN Golf Chair has moved to Texas, but plans to become a sponsor. Silvina Rubenstein in Kauai, Hawaii and Mark McKeon, Whittier, CA.

- Staff Member Loriann Leota was a presenter this month at the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Every Child Counts Symposium, ACSA’s largest conference.
- Board Members Leatapo Fesili and To Meni participated in the Long Beach USD’s Pacific Islander Education Voyage Parent Meeting, including a presentation by President-Elect Will Safotu and Kim Ieremia on Social and Emotional Learning. Will is a member of the Education Voyage Group Board. Both work for the LBUSD’s Family Resource Center https://www.lbschools.net/Departments/Student_Support_Services/frc.cfm Also present was Moises “Jun”Aglipay, Field Representative for California Assemblymember Mike Gipson.
- Secretary Kalani Heinz, the new Hawai’I Daughters Guild President and Dr. Thompson attended a meeting with City of Lakewood and other neighboring community organizations and California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon. Each organization shared their ideas on how to engage the Speakers’ office with each of the organizations.
